TWELVE NEW BRONZE AWARD HOLDES FROM SQUADRON 690 LAKESHORE

Twelve cadets from squadron 690 Lakeshore received their Bronze Awards from the Honorable Francis Scarpaleggia, MP for Lac St. Louis during their Annual Review on 31 May 2008. Congratulations to everyone and good luck for your Silver Award.

SILVER AWARD CEREMONY

Sixty young people coming from all over the province have received on April 26 their Silver Award certificates of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award from the hands of The Honourable Pierre Duchesne, Lieutenant-Governor of Québec, at the Hôtel du Parlement de Québec. 

Among the recipients, six Junior Rangers from the villages of Inukjuak and La Tabatière attended the ceremny for the first time.

To qualify for the Silver level, participants must involve themselves for a minimal period of 60 hours in their community, practice a skill for 12 months, spend 40 hours of physical fitness through 20 weeks and participate to an adventurous journey of 3 days and 2 nights.


THREE PARTICIPANTS TAKE THE CHALLENGE!

On last March 21 to 24,  three participants in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award went to Duchesnay Centre for an adventurous journey of four days and three nights. Their group leader, Mrs. Johanne Dostie, Gold participants Ariane Keck and France Lachapelle as well as Bronze participant Vincent Lachapelle have travelled 102 kilometers of cross-country skiing and explored the life refusal on the site of the Station Duchesnay Tourist. France Lachapelle, participating in the expedition, says that: "We must not be afraid to change plans if necessary, the important thing is to always keep in mind the overall objectives of the expedition." She also says that she is proud to have achieved its aims.
